When thinking about Adam and Eve and the original sin it occurred to me, all sin stems from some challenge to God's nature. From the garden forward every decision we make that doesn't honor the Lord is a choice to disbelieve what we know about God. God never changes. He always wants what is best for us. When we sin, we are saying that God is wrong, that we know better, that God lies. We question the one unchanging thing as though we cannot comprehend that God is true - that doesn't waiver in his promises and commands don't "change with the times". Jesus is relevant. We are limited. We can atone for nothing. We can't get out of our sin consequences on technicalities. It's almost as though we have become so jaded towards God because of the letdowns that we have suffered at the hands of others that we can't have faith that his commands and promises will NEVER FAIL. If we truly believed all God's commandments were for our good then we wouldn't sin. Even as people of faith, we question God's ability to know what is truly best for us, like an adolescent child we rebel,  sometimes daily. For me it makes the acts of sin feel worse, more like a personal attack on the character of the Lord. When I can excuse away my sin as just a "slip" or a "mistake" it doesn't do justice to the dishonor that I am really committing. The questioning of my Savior, the one faithful thing in my whole existence. I am so sorry Lord. Help me have faith!
