Heaven Eyes Cure Stress

Whenever I think that I am truly stretched thin and about to break I think of the cross. I believe in a Triune God and that when Jesus took our sins upon him and God the Father had to turn his back on him, that Jesus experienced more pain than we could possibly imagine. To actually be ripped apart from a part of yourself and someone with whom you have only ever experience true communion must have been so excruciating. The things that stretch us today are so temporal. We focus on our "should's" or "should not's" and forget that there are bigger things to worry about than what people think of us, or how we look or crossing off our to-do list. I want to have heaven eyes to see what is truly important in the universe and focus solely on that. If I don't serve organic chicken tonight it will not send someone to hell. If I don't dress in a fashionable outfit it will not give someone cancer. If I get angry at my girls I am not the world's worst mother. I am human. I have a calling to a higher standard. I do my best. It is so sad that it is so easy for us all to be caught up in earthly things, even Christian earthly things. If I don't go to the Bible study, it does not mean that I don't have faith. If I wear jeans to church I am not a heathen. Focus on the cross! For pity sake! Jesus ripped apart his very self to free us from the chains of earthly desires and Satan's control. Let us live as though it was worth it to him. Honor Christ today and look heavenward. Remember the passing nature of all earthly things, and give thanks.
